Rev. Charles C. Adams
Charles Christian Adams earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wayne State University. He went on to earn the Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York City. While there, Rev. Adams served as the Youth and Young Adult Minister for the Bronx Christian Fellowship Church, Bronx, New York under the Pastorate of Dr. Suzan Johnson Cook. Both Dr. Cook and Rev. Adams comforted and counseled many in the Wall Street area in the immediate aftermath of ‘9ll’. In addition, he was Program Coordinator for the Office of the University Chaplain at Columbia University in New York. He has also completed the Summer Leadership Institute at Harvard Divinity School.
Rev. Charles Christian Adams currently serves as the Presiding Pastor of Hartford Memorial Baptist Church, where he was ordained under the Pastorate of his father, Dr. Charles G. Adams. In addition to his preaching and teaching ministry at Hartford, Rev. Adams has traveled the world, ministering in Geneva, Switzerland for the World Council of Churches, Harare, Zimbabwe for the Baptist World Alliance Youth Conference and Johannesburg, South Africa for the American Baptist Churches. He has preached throughout the United States, Europe and Africa. In April 2013 Rev. Adams received the prestigious honor of being inducted into the Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers of Morehouse College. Rev. Adams also regularly conducts behavioral health seminars at churches, schools, prisons, treatment facilities and anywhere else he may be needed.
Rev. Adams visits Ryan Correctional Facility monthly where he preaches and teaches, is a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society and a lifetime member of the NAACP. He sits on the Board of Directors for the Detroit Recovery Project and The Emmanuel House Recovery Center. Additionally, he sits on the board of directors for Loyola High School, is an advisory board member for the American Baptist Women in Ministry as well as St. Jude Research Hospital. He is also the Board President of The Metropolitan Christian Council of Detroit & Windsor.
Rev. Charles Christian Adams is the father of Charles Edward, and Madison Elizabeth and is married to Mrs. Maria Lauren Adams.
Rev. Kevin Taylor
Minister of General Ministry
Rev. Kevin Taylor is a native Detroiter and proud product of the Detroit Public School System. Upon graduating from Mackenzie High School, he attended Michigan State University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and later attended Wayne State University earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology. Rev. Kevin Taylor has continued his education with graduate studies at Wayne State University and the Master of Divinity program at the Ecumenical Theological Seminary Detroit, Michigan.
He has been a Hartford Church Member for 32 years and is currently employed with Hartford Church as Assistant to the Pastor in General Ministry. Rev. Taylor has served as a Hartford Youth Advisor since 1984. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1988, called and licensed to preach by Hartford Church in 1996. He was ordained in ministry in 2007. He is the Director of The Hartford Men’s Liturgical Dance Ministry and serves as Co-Chair of the Hartford Married Couples Ministry. He preaches at the 7:00 PM Saturday Night Live Worship Service. He is married to Trustee Artistine Taylor and has one daughter, Renee.
Minister Taylor is a born again man of God and a stage 4 Cancer survivor. He is a firm believer in the power of prayer and the word of God. He affirms that serving the Lord is an honor and a privilege. He truly loves the Lord and serves the people of God with Gladness.
Rev. Lurecie M. Stokes
Asst. to the Pastor in Pastoral Care
Reverend Lurecie M. Stokes. is the Assistant to Pastor in Pastoral Care. Her mission is to provide a spiritual arm to all Hartford Members and Non-Members requesting care and support. She has aligned her ministry programs with Hartford Memorial’s vision: “We are in the world on assignment from God to represent God’s truth, God’s sense of justice and God’s perfect love.”
Under Rev. Stoke’s direction, Pastoral Care consists of the following ministry components:
