March 23, 2020

Dear Hartford family,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! It is my prayer that this letter finds you with the power of faith, a vision of hope and an awareness of the love of God. I would like to share with you worship and study protocols for Hartford Memorial Baptist Church until April 13, 2020. We will stream Sunday morning worship promptly at 10a, that service will be one hour. We will also host on our website each week a classic sermon from our Pastor Emeritus, Dr. Charles G. Adams, that will be available throughout the week. We ask that you monitor the website regarding Holy Week including our Seven Last Words Celebration and Easter. Updates regarding those services are pending. All other in person meetings and worship services are suspended until the Governor’s executive order asking that we shelter in place is lifted, at that time we will reevaluate our worship and study protocols. This applies to Lenten cell groups and all ministries on or off campus. My friends we are all devastated by this restriction however we are also very concerned about those who have been directly affected by the Corona Virus. What we will do instead is provide options for our Lenten Cell groups to meet virtually. Each cell leader has been encouraged to set up a conference call line, Zoom meeting or social media options to carry on their cell meetings. Those meeting options and details will be made available on our website so that you can continue to come together during this time where we need each other most. (Click here for important numbers)
As much as we would hasten to return to a since of normalcy, we must join all of humanity in making sacrifices to stem the destructive tide of this disease. We can do it! As Dea. Joyce Maddox used to say, ”Yes we can and yes we will”. The United States will emerge from this with a deeper commitment to ”Liberty and Justice for all”. Our communities will stand together as one across lines of race, class and any other wall that divides us. Our homes will be closer now that we do not have the distractions of our daily lives. We as individuals will be stronger for having gone through this. My dear family in Christ, most of all we will hunger and thirst all-the-more for the presence of God, fellowship of believers and the house of the Lord!!! “Be not dismayed whate’er betide, God will take care of you.” If you need to take care of administrative business at the Church, we will continue to be available to you. Limited staff will be on duty from 9a-5p Monday thru Friday. If you are in need call the office, if no one answers please leave a message. Hartford staff will be checking messages both on and offsite
If you have a pastoral concern, emergency or just need prayer, please either leave a message or call any of our staff ministers:
Rev. Kevin Taylor              313.475.0316
Rev. Curtis Kilpatrick         313.930.5644
Rev. Lurecie Stokes          248.996.4424
Rev. Charles C. Adams     313.475.4807
We will be taking all information regarding funerals and when we are able, we look forward to celebrating the life of your loved one. If you have a previously scheduled wedding, please feel to call the church office if you have any questions or concerns.
Please remember that without your support the church cannot survive. Right now, we are receiving only a fraction of what was tithed or offered unto the glory of God and the perpetuation of this institution beyond our lifetime. Hartford means far more to this world than we are even aware of. We must remember that Hartford supports a multitude of work locally and globally that uplifts humanity in a tangible way. You may continue your giving via the church website, Givelify and ShelbyNext Giving, and if necessary, you can stop by the office during normal business hours to drop off your tithes and offerings. We are here for you, we are praying with you, and by patience and faith we will soon be together again!
With Love and Care,
Charles C. Adams
