Paid Free and Clear!

“Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, ‘If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples;  and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” [John 8:31-32 -NRSV]

Paid Free and Clear!

Right about now in America, many of us are reflecting not only on our blessed freedom and its progression—but on the cost of the freedom that we all hold dear.

What did it cost, over two hundred years ago, for America to become the land of the free? It took various components of true commitment and a fight to the death.

What did cost for women to achieve the right to vote? It took various components of true commitment and a fight to the death.

What did it cost for African Americans to achieve Civil Rights? It took various components of commitment and a fight to the death.

Jesus came from heaven, intentionally to pay the cost for us to be free with his death on the cross and resurrection from his grave.  We see that the LORD explicitly states in the text [John 8:31-32] that if believers maintain commitment to his Word, that is if we live a life of belief in his Word, we will be true disciples of Jesus.  Not only that but we will know the truth—which is the truth of God as revealed in Jesus, and this truth will [always] make us free.

Free from what? Free from sin and eternal separation from God and his supernatural love, compassion, mercy, faithfulness, forgiveness, peace, promises, provision, protection, and prosperity.

As the old adage says “You get what you pay for.”  Jesus paid it all!

Yours in Christ,
