A Captivated Heart

And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” Luke 10:27

The heart, the dazzling emblem of Valentine’s day, heralds February as the month of love.  Valentine’s day expressions of love often include roses, chocolates and romantic dinners. These are acts of love are recognizable as it should be. In past times phrases, such as…  who has captured your heart?” or “he/she has captivated your heart” were commonly directed to someone who was obviously in love. The inference was that he/she was utterly absorbed by someone wanting to totally know the person, desiring to continuously be with and please his/her love.

God wants to draw a deeper love from You, a trusting and fulfilling love far more treasurable than romantic love. The Lord wants to captivate our hearts. He said “I will give them a heart to know Me, “ (to be captivated )  “…for I am the LORD; and they will be My people, and I will be their God, Jer. 24:7  He has so much more in mind, His thoughts and ways are higher than ours. Love in a captivated heart encompasses the entire range of all we believe, think, understand and do. You are to have deliberate love to maintain relationship with Him, spouses, children and others. Determined to utterly refuse to neglect Love that engages the fruit of the Sprit dwelling in you. “Love is patient and kind; does not envy; does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails”. 1Cor. 13:4-8

Let the Lord our God captivate your heart, Give Him all of you! “… love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.Luke 10:27 And yes, even when it may be more trying to love others as desired, the Lord wants for you to have a mind premeditated to call on Jesus, premeditated to study His word, premediated to let Him establish your thoughts and the work of your hands, premeditated to trust in Lord with all your heart, premeditated to look out for the interest of others along with yours, premeditated to not be discouraged nor in fear. The Lord our God wants you to have a love that sustains and strengthens through trials, childhood, aging, illness, disappoints, insufficiencies, unfair circumstances and unjust treatment. So, the Lord has placed this treasure in earthen vessels [us], so that this great love and exceeding, extraordinary, surpassing greatness, excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. The Lord will perfect all things that concern you.
Give the Lord Our God a captivated heart. A Captivated Heart will be the delight in your spirit, the thirst in your soul, the wonder in your mind, and hunger in your heart for your love, all culminated in the expression of your being.
Yours In Christ,
